Your first question is, “What type of walking aid do I need?” If one has been recommended by a physical therapist, follow their recommendations for how to fit and use the product. However, if you have not yet seen a physical therapist, it is recommended that you do so to ensure that the appropriate product is purchased for optimal safety.

Instructions for sizing and fitting a cane:

These quick guidelines are provided only as an informational tool. You should seek and follow advice from your medical professional.

For all walking aids, elbows should be bent 15° - 20° when pressing down, 30° without pressure.

For both straight and quad canes, the injured weak side should be on the opposite side of the cane, and the cane tip should rest 6" outside the body (not right beside).
